The cast of Scandal spill details on the day Hillary Clinton visited the set

Hillary Clinton paid a visit to the set of Scandal when she was in Los Angeles last month and the cast have spilled the beans on the surreal day.

Kerry Washington, who plays Washington fixer Olivia Pope, joined the rest of the Gladiators at Paleyfest in Hollywood to reveal who totally freaked out over the Democratic presidential hopeful.

Kerry posted this pic on the day in question with the caption: “A good friend came by set today. Proud to say… #imwithher.”

Speaking on a panel at the Dolby Theatre, the cast revealed it was Scott Foley, who plays Jake Ballard in the show and was also directing that day’s episode, who could not play it cool.

Kerry said: “He immediately Instagrammed a selfie.”

Scott captioned the shot: “So, this happened while I was directing tonight. No big deal. #imwithher”

Speaking on the panel, the former Felicity star added: “It was the last shot of the night. I had no idea she was going to show up until someone said ‘wait’ and then three Highway Patrol men came in, then a documentary film crew, then secret service men and a woman I kind of recognised and then Hillary emerged and I thought: ‘Oh God.’

“I didn’t know what to do and she sat down behind me and I was just like: ‘Aaaand action!’

“It was terrifying. I didn’t even see the shot, I was just like: ‘We got it.’ If it’s bad, blame Hillary.”

Kerry has since starred in an advert supporting Hillary, alongside the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes and the leading ladies from Shonda’s other shows Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder.

The ad was directed by Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Grant on the show.

Tony has already directed multiple episodes of Scandal and Kerry revealed she is not always professional when she’s taking direction from her on-screen romantic interest.

She said: “I’m so horrible when Tony directs. My mother was visiting the set once and said: ‘What is wrong with you?’”

Tony added: “When I give her my thoughts, she is like: ‘Yeah, right.’”
Scandal airs on Sky Living on Thursdays.
