Thurman stalker held over new claim

Uma Thurman told jurors that she was 'completely freaked out' by Jordan's behaviour

A former psychiatric patient who was convicted in 2008 of stalking actress Uma Thurman has allegedly tried to call her again, defying a court order to leave her alone after years of unwanted advances, officials have said.

Jack Jordan was waiting to be taken to New York after he was arrested last week in a Washington suburb on charges of violating his restraining order by calling the actress’s office, according to police and the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, which is prosecuting the case.

It was unclear whether Jordan has a lawyer. The New York attorney who previously represented him said he had not heard from Jordan about the new allegations.

Jordan, a former lifeguard and pool cleaner with an English degree from the University of Chicago and a history of mental problems, was sentenced in 2008 to three years’ probation and told not to try to contact the Oscar-nominated Pulp Fiction actress for five years.

Montgomery County police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said when officers went to serve the arrest warrant, they were led to a room where Jordan was sitting in front of a computer with Uma’s name in a Google search box.

Ms Baur said Jordan was arrested without incident and is awaiting a December 21 extradition hearing.

Jordan was convicted of stalking and harassing the actress from 2005 to 2007. Uma told jurors at his trial that she was “completely freaked out” by his behaviour.

He sent bizarre letter and cards, called her family and employees, tried to get into her trailer on a movie set and showed up at her Manhattan home late at night, according to testimony.
