The NHS Covid Pass used to show people’s vaccination status for travelling and going to events suffered a two hour outage today. During this outage, users tried to access the Covid pass but received error messages or a notice saying that high traffic volumes are “limiting access to the service”. Other elements of the app that houses the Covid Pass continued to work normally.
In a tweet sent out at 1.30pm today, NHS digital reported the outage saying:
“There are currently issues with accessing the Covid Pass on the NHS App and website. We are investigating the issue and will update as soon as we can.”
There was no mention of the the outage, nor any advice what to do in the absence of the digital pass, on the NHS Digital website. Unfortunately several travellers claim they missed their flights during this two hour waiting period whilst others were in despair for the lack of information at the time.
The problem appeared to have been resolved by 3.30pm.
