Willow Smith could be playing plucky orphan Annie in a possible remake.
Her father Will Smith is considering the potential for a new adaptation of the 1982 musical, which he would produce through his Overbrook Entertainment company, Variety reported.
Jay-Z, who worked on her debut single Whip My Hair after signing the ten-year-old on his Roc Nation record label, is in talks to collaborate on the music. The rapper previously sampled one of the musical’s signature songs for Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).
Representatives for the project were keeping tight-lipped about whether the film would be contemporary and include any original songs.
It’s not the first time Will has kept it in the family.
He produced The Pursuit Of Happyness and last year’s blockbuster The Karate Kid, which featured his son Jaden.
Aileen Quinn starred as the red-headed orphan in the original 1982 movie, while Alicia Morton portrayed her in the 1999 Disney TV film.
