Zsa Zsa Gabor’s celebrity friends will be gathering for an extra special birthday party next month.
Despite being bed-ridden after her right leg was amputated this month to stave off an infection, the legendary star’s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, is insisting they’ll celebrate what’s believed to be Zsa Zsa’s 94th birthday.
“I have a surprise party on the 6 February. I can’t tell my wife I have a surprise party, she would rather say ‘no, I don’t want to see anybody’ but I’ve called a couple of people, her closest friends,” he explained.
Prince Frederic revealed his big plans at the couple’s home in Bel Air which has just been put on the market for 28 million dollars to try and pay for the actress’ medical bills.
“David Letterman is going to come, he promised. I want to get a couple of famous people up here, her friends especially, some people like Betty White, Nancy Reagan.”
He explained: “My wife will stay in her bedroom, she’ll have her hair done nicely and make up so people can go singularly into the bedroom and talk to her. Maybe she understands them or not and maybe she cheers up.”
Working out how many candles to put on the cake might be a contentious issue though.
“In the emergency room the doctors came in and asked for her age. The doctor asked me ‘Mr Von Anhalt when was your wife born?’ and before I could even open my mouth, in the bad state she was, she said ‘1930’,” he revealed.
Laughing he added “even in the biggest pain – ‘wait a minute, don’t make me older!’.”
