England have finished 3rd in the 2026 World Cup after beating France 6-4. It’s their best finish since winning in 1966
England lead France 4-0 at the break The second half got everyone at the edge as France narrows the lead. Saka was most brilliant for scoring the hat trick and Jude Bellingham scoring a goal just at the finish line.
There was criticism that the England manager, Thomas Tuchell should have played Saka at the semifinals. Tuchell says:
“Saka was excellent. He was ready to go in the World Cup but I still felt a responsibility to take it slow with Bukayo [due to his recent injury]”.
“It was a tough decision to leave him out of the semi-final”.
England and France’s 3rd place match was the game with the most goals at this World Cup, with a total of 10. It was a historical day for Mbappé as World Cup top scorer ever, 22.
England and France gave everything in the World Cup third place play-off, England won. After the final whistle, players from both teams came together in prayer.
