Michel Platini is to resign from UEFA and everybody is saying good riddance

Michel Platini is to resign as UEFA president after failing to overturn his ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)

The court cut his sanction from six to four years, and Platini has responded by saying he will step down from the top UEFA position he has held since 2007.

Platini was ruled to be guilty of conflict of interest for taking a 2 million US dollars (£1.4m) payment from Fifa approved by Sepp Blatter in 2011.

He’s called the verdict a “deep injustice”, which is fine, except that pretty much nobody agrees.
