Most people write the same message every time they send a greetings card, usually just saying “happy birthday” or “have a good day”, according to a study.
A survey of 2,000 adults for the Royal Mail found that many people would send more cards if they could think of something creative to write.
Just half of those questioned said they wrote a personal message in greetings cards, with most admitting they could never think of anything amusing to say.
Comedienne Sue Perkins will team up with the Royal Mail on Thursday to host a workshop, via social network site Twitter, to help people write more imaginative messages in cards.
