Ricky Gervais has joined the cast of the new Muppets movie.
The Office and Extras creator is the latest celebrity to sign up for a role alongside Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy in next year’s Disney film.
He joked: “The Muppets are an institution and I always knew I’d end up in one of those.”
Heat Vision blog reported that fellow British star Emily Blunt, who has just completed thriller The Adjustment Bureau alongside Matt Damon, will also make an appearance.
Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme are all said to be starring in The Muppets movie, which is being filmed around Los Angeles.
In the film, being directed by James Bobin, who was series director on Da Ali G Show, the Muppets reunite to put on a show to save their movie studio from a developer.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Jason Segel, who co-wrote the script, is the human lead while other actors include Amy Adams and Chris Cooper.
